I’m a Spartan, but I grew up in the Bo Schembechler era when the University of Michigan was going to Rose Bowls about every other year (not winning too many of them though), and everyone in the state seemed to be a Michigan fan. I guess that always bugged me. Why? Because Michigan fans are so damn cocky. Arrogant. Entitled. And there is just so many of them, it’s like the plague. And did you ever notice that the really obnoxious Michigan fans didn’t actually go to the school?
If you went to Michigan, you deserve to be an over-the-top fan. Michigan is a great school and you should be proud to have gone there. And you should be very proud of your football program. It’s the winning-est in NCAA history; who can argue with that? A little tarnish in the form of App. State and Toledo doesn’t corrode a long history of winning. So Michigan Alums; good on you. And I guess I can give a pass to your kids too.
Now, as for the rest of you UofM fans, you are annoying. Why don’t you wear the sweatshirt for the actual school you went to? Did they even have a football team? Or did you even go to college? Why are you crazy about Michigan? Oh yeah, I know. It’s because they always win. They haven’t had a losing season in 41 years. Well, I guess that makes sense. But it just seems so obvious and safe. And maybe supporting Michigan even though you didn’t go there says a little something about you, and your level of confidence and creativity.
And then the 2008 season happened. Yep, you are one game away from a losing season. Lose any of the remaining four games, and you will lose more than one of them, and you are losers. That’s right. Old infallible Michigan are just a bunch of losers.
And this is big to me becuase I’m 41 and Michigan has always won my entire life. I don’t take pleasure in others failure, so I am not sticking it to the new coach or the team. Those guys are working hard and I’m sure in a nother year to two, they will have Michigan winning again. But I am happy to see those sad, sad non-Michigan attending Michigan fans suck it. Yep, 2-6 means SUCK IT. Losing season means SUCK IT suckers. And no bowl this year either.
This was a good game for me. Even with a monumental bad call resulting in a Michigan touchdown, MSU prevailed. MSU played hard and did their part towards Michigan having a losing season. And we broke the losing-at-the-big(mouth)-house since 1990 streak. If you’re going to beat Michigan, it’s always that much sweeter to do it in the their own huge stadium when it’s filled to the brim. Oh yeah, it was also good to win one after the stomping we took versus Ohio State last week. That was very, very humbling.
So, to recap:
1. Congrats to the Spartans!
2. Condolences to Michigan’s team, students and Alumni.
3. Non-Michigan attending Michigan fans, you can SUCK IT.
GO GREEN! GO WHITE! GO GREEN! GO WHITE! Feel free to repeat.

I knew that touchdown was bogus. Thank God it wasn’t close enough where that seven point gift was a factor.

Coming from an OSU fan, any day Michigan loses, regardless of who they lose against, is a good day. Of course, the sun shines brighter when they lose to the likes of Appalachian State or any other high school football team, but a loss is a loss!
Amen.
With Michigan’s loss to the Boilermakers, this season is officially their worst since 1967. And as far a bowl bid, well that is gone too. We’ll see you next year boys.
